This post is all about self care
Gratitude Journaling for Self Care
Let's get real. Life can get tough and sometimes we forget everything that we should be thankful for, that is why gratitude journaling is so important! It really gives you a chance to sit down and take some time to think about everything that you are thankful for and the positive things that happen to you and acknowledge it. By acknowledging all of these positive things in your life on a consistent basis you begin to be more aware of them throughout your day which in turn creates positive vibes and lowers your stress level. Who doesn't love that?!
Gratitude journaling is so simple; literally anyone could do it. You can either buy a journal or type it out on your computer; really whichever you prefer. Take some time every day to sit down and journal about things that you are grateful for and/or positive things that happened to you throughout your day. It can be as simple as getting to enjoy a cup of coffee that morning to a stranger giving you a compliment. The great thing about gratitude journaling is that it is for your eyes only so there is no rulebook, and you'll never receive judgement about what you write.
Exercise/Move Your Body
I know we have all heard it before that exercising is something that we all should do to stay healthy and here I am again just reiterating that. To put it simply: Exercise = endorphins. Endorphins = less stress, better vibes, etc. Most people already know this so I'm not going to go into a lot of detail about endorphins. They are GOOD FOR YOU.
Ways to increase your movement throughout the day:
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
- Go for a walk.
- Deep clean the house.
- When folding laundry put each piece of clothing away before folding the next piece of clothing.
- Clean your car.
- Work out in the yard.
And then there is the common ways to exercise such as go to the gym, HIIT workouts, run, swim, bodyweight exercises, etc.
Self Care With a Book
This is probably one of my favorite self-care activities! I love starting my day off with a good book and a cup of coffee. Reading a book can just be so relaxing and it allows you to escape whatever is going on in your life for just a little while and dive into the characters lives. You can even pick up a self help book and instead of diving into characters in the book you will learn something useful.

Take a Bubble Bath
This is another one that is high on my list of favorites. Nothing is more relaxing than a bubble bath in the dark with candles and a glass of wine. You can even grab a book or watch a TV show while you soak in the warm bubbly water.
For Religious People: Praying Can Be a Form of Self Care
If you’re a religious person, but the busy things in life have kept you from praying (I’ve been there) then try and take some time to sit down and really focus on praying. You’ll be surprised how good you will feel after.
Take Yourself on a Date
Take yourself out! There is nothing wrong with going out and enjoying time alone. You can take yourself out for coffee, brunch, or dinner. You could even just go out for a picnic and enjoy the outdoors by yourself. You can literally do anything, and sometimes it's really nice to just enjoy some alone time with no expectations or pressure to entertain.
Dress Up For a Self Care Day
Get dressed up, do your hair and makeup, even if you have zero plans for the day. Getting dressed up can really boost your mood and your confidence. You'll feel great and this will lead to a positive attitude throughout the day.
